Norway. Lofoten
Watercolor 30*40 cm, November 2022
paper cotton 300 g/m2 medium grain, cold pressing.
The Lofoten Islands are located in northern Norway, west of Narvik in the Norwegian Sea. The inhabitants themselves even call the archipelago the Lofoten Wall. The islands are really like a wall separating the North Sea and the Westfjord.
Despite the fact that the archipelago is located 200 kilometers beyond the Arctic Circle, in January the coldest temperature is 1 C and not a degree lower.
The Lofoten Islands are so beautiful that they impress not only tourists, but also famous writers with their appearance. So, inspired by the local landscapes, Edgar Poe dedicated his work. Overthrow in Malström to the islands. Jules Vernes novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea also describes the famous Maelström vortex: it was in it that the boat in which Professor Aronax and his companions were sailing, escaping from the Nautilus capsized.
