Eckernförde (German: Eckernförde) is a German town in Schleswig-Holstein on the coast of the Baltic Sea, 30 km northwest of Kiel. The first mention of Ekernferde was recorded in 1197, and its entire subsequent existence was full of stormy events - sea battles, sediments, floods, destructive storms.
About 23,000 people live in modern Eckernfeld, it is a popular tourist destination in the north of Germany. The shores of its bay are beautiful sandy beaches, and the Eckernförde Yacht Club (SCE) is over 100 years old.
