The poppy has long been associated with gods, wars, mythology and art.
In Ukrainian mythology, it's a symbol of the sun, the infinity of existence and the transience of life, lush girlish beauty, will, pride, sleep, poison, a talisman against evil power, as well as a Cossack boy, blood, death.
Observing plants, people gave them symbolic meaning. This is how flowers conveyed the most diverse feelings and emotions. An important role was played by the color of the plant, which could radically change the meaning of the flower. For example, the common field poppy speaks of sweet dreams; red - expresses great satisfaction; a white flower hints at the hopelessness of feelings, and a yellow flower means success and wealth.
